As the warmth of summer envelops the Baltic region, there’s no better way to experience its charm than by embarking on a journey through the scenic landscapes of Latvia. This year, we invite you to join us on an unforgettable adventure in our latest film, "The Great Latvia Summer 2024." From the bustling streets of Riga to the tranquil shores of Nīca, and the historic town of Valka, this summer promises to be filled with exploration, local flavors, and hands-on projects.

We kicked off our adventure by skipping a week from the British International School in Tbilisi to travel to Latvia on June 21. We stayed until July 14, making memories that will last a lifetime. During our stay, we celebrated our kiddo’s 6th birthday at our charming frame house, adding a special touch to our summer journey.

Exploring Riga: The Heart of Latvia

Our journey begins in Riga, the capital city known for its stunning Art Nouveau architecture and vibrant cultural scene. Whether you're wandering through the historic Old Town, enjoying the lively atmosphere of the Central Market, or taking a leisurely stroll along the Daugava River, Riga offers a perfect blend of the old and new. Don’t miss the iconic Freedom Monument and the beautiful views from St. Peter’s Church tower.

The Serenity of Nīca

Leaving the city behind, we head towards Nīca, a hidden gem located near the border with Lithuania. Known for its pristine beaches and serene dunes, Nīca is a perfect escape for those seeking peace and natural beauty. Relax on the sandy shores, explore the local lighthouse, and immerse yourself in the quiet charm of this coastal paradise.

Discovering Valka

Our journey continues to Valka, a town rich in history and culture, straddling the border between Latvia and Estonia. Valka’s unique position allows you to stand in two countries at once. Visit the local museums, enjoy a walk in the town’s beautiful parks, and don’t forget to take a photo at the border marker.

Tasting Local Flavors

One of the highlights of any trip is the opportunity to indulge in local cuisine. In Kazdanga, we savor the refreshing taste of locally brewed cider. This small town is known for its lush greenery and the historic Kazdanga Manor, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a drink and unwind. Moving on to Valmiera, we relish a hearty beer at one of the town’s traditional breweries. Valmiera is famous for its rich brewing heritage, and a visit here offers a delightful taste of Latvia’s best ales.

Hands-On Adventures in Capši Land

Our journey takes a creative turn as we arrive in Capši land, where the summer is all about building and creating. Watch as we install a beautiful terrace, set up drywall, and bring inflatable attractions to life, complete with ball pits that promise endless fun. These hands-on projects showcase the spirit of innovation and the joy of constructing something new.

Building, Rebuilding, and Innovating

In Capši land, the motto is simple: build, rebuild, and innovate. From small DIY projects to more ambitious constructions, this summer is dedicated to creativity and craftsmanship. Whether you’re a seasoned builder or a novice, there’s something incredibly satisfying about creating something with your own hands. Stay tuned as we continue to share more exciting projects and adventures.
