In October 2024, Tbilisi hosted the Tbilisi Bootcamp by Ton Foundation, a three-day event that brought together developers, entrepreneurs, and crypto enthusiasts from around the world. Although I couldn't participate in the entire event due to travel commitments, I attended the first day to explore and learn more about the TON token and its growing ecosystem.
At TerraMatris Crypto Hedge Fund, we’ve been making small but strategic investments into TON, and this event provided an excellent opportunity to deepen my understanding and potentially open new doors for future growth.
The TON token (The Open Network) has been gaining significant attention due to its innovative features and deep integration with platforms like Telegram. Its fast, scalable blockchain, along with its potential to handle millions of transactions per second, makes it a compelling investment opportunity. With TerraMatris exploring new avenues for growth, it felt natural to dive deeper into TON's capabilities at this event.
I had the pleasure of listening to some great speakers during the first day of the event. The presentations were mostly in Russian, but fortunately, all the slides were available in English. They covered everything from the technical architecture of TON to its practical applications in decentralized finance (DeFi), NFTs, and more. There were also discussions around how Telegram itself could be leveraged as a powerful tool for fundraising and community engagement — an idea that sparked my interest immediately.
New Ideas for TerraMatris: Fundraising via Telegram
During the event, the potential for raising funds through Telegram became a key takeaway for me. With its massive user base and seamless integration with TON, Telegram offers a unique platform for engaging with investors. At TerraMatris, we are always looking for innovative ways to expand, and the thought of leveraging Telegram’s reach to raise funds for our hedge fund is something I plan to explore further.
One of the highlights of my day was introducing one of our investors, Mr. Giorgi, to the event. He shares our enthusiasm for blockchain and crypto, and I could tell he was equally impressed by the potential that TON offers.
The Ton Hachathon wasn’t just about learning from the speakers; it was also an invaluable networking opportunity. I had the chance to meet a few market makers and a bunch of talented coders, all of whom were passionate about building on the TON blockchain. This network of professionals is crucial for us at TerraMatris as we look to grow our fund by connecting with the right people in the space.
Although I couldn’t stay for the full event or participate in the actual hackathons due to my evening flight to Prague, I left with a lot of inspiration and new ideas. The hackathon aspect of the event seemed especially exciting — teams working together to develop new projects on TON, solving real-world challenges and pushing the boundaries of blockchain technology.
While I missed out on the hands-on hacking part, I would definitely encourage young professionals, particularly those in tech and finance, to dive into these kinds of events. The Ton Hachathon in Tbilisi showcased the endless possibilities within the TON ecosystem and highlighted how much potential there is for growth. For anyone interested in blockchain development, or even those just looking to learn more about innovative technologies, events like these are fantastic opportunities.
