November 2017 Dividend Income Report - $50.75
| Investments | 9 seen
Welcome to the seventh (#7) dividend income report, covering earnings I've made from dividend-paying stocks, peer to peer lending (both fiat and cryptocurrencies) in November 2017.
Surprisingly, but November, in terms of a passive income, turned out better, as I thought before, and generated me a dividend income of total $50.75. I didn't plan to make more than $40 this month, but increased lending rates and additional dividend payment helped to boost dividend earnings in November.
Also, a super hyped month with cryptocurrencies made a nice boost to the total portfolio value.
As usual, I was doing nothing much, just investing in great companies, playing a little bit with cryptocurrencies and lending out money via peer to peer marketplace. Most of the November was on autopilot, just at the start of the month I deposited some chunk of money to Mintos.com peer to peer lending marketplace, and at the end of the month - purchased additional shares of Vilniaus Baldai on Nasdaq Baltics.
About Portfolio November 2017
At the end of October, I've invested a total of $11,035.29 what greatly exceeds my initial plan for investments in 2017 and equals to 128.90% from this year's planned investments. Also, at the end of November, I've reached 1.18% from my ultimate one million dollar goal by the time I will turn 60 (in 2045).
All final/total currencies are converted to the US dollar, though I've investments in GEL, EUR and USD currencies.
Net Worth November 2017
For the past 11 months, it has been a steady value growth resulting in a total of +6.77% value growth for the entire portfolio at the end of November. Here is the breakdown of positions (year to date growth)
- Mintos.com peer to peer lending: -4.19%
- Stocks: +2.46%
- Mutual funds: +4.22%
- Crypto investments: +76.44%
For the fourth month in a row the value of my investments on Mintos marketplace has been declining, despite Mintos being the top performer of dividend payments (loan payments), and here is why - Georgian Lari currency continues to lose value against EUR. Be extra cautious when investing in international currencies.
Both individuals and entities can invest through Mintos. Individual investors must be at least 18 years old, have a bank account in the European Union or third countries currently considered to have AML/CFT systems equivalent to the EU, and have their identity successfully verified by Mintos. At the moment, US citizens or taxpayers cannot register as investors at Mintos.

Having a diversified portfolio helps, and it definitely helped me last November. Despite negative returns in some of the portfolio positions, the total value growth is with a positive +6.77% sign. Awesome.
Investment portfolio structure November 2017
I keep investing in - stocks, peer-to-peer lending, mutual funds, cash, and cryptocurrencies. The vast majority remains invested in Nasdaq Baltics and Mintos.com peer to peer lending loans (in EUR and GEL currencies)
About Investments in November 2017
Last month I invested additional:
- Nasdaq Baltics stock market: EUR 340
- Cryptocurrencies: EUR 175
- Mintos.com: EUR 226.61
Total investments in October: EUR 741.61
It should be noted, that not all money put on investments last month is a fresh money put directly from my monthly income, most of the investments were funded from the Cash position in the portfolio. I love cash and tend to keep about 5% of the total portfolio in cash.
From money invested in Baltic equity market I bought following shares:
- Vilniaus Baldai (VBL1L ) - 25 Shares
This, Lithuanian company promises dividend payment in January 2018. I believe I overpaid a little bit for this stock, but I'm not worried about that, as I plan to hold them for a long term.
Interest income in November 2017
From investments in stocks, peer to peer lending marketplace Mintos.com and from cryptocurrency lending on Poloniex.com I got following income last month:
- Linas Agro Group: EUR 3.55
- Mintos.com: EUR 40.17
- Poloniex.com: EUR 1.27
Total: EUR 44.99 / USD 50.75
Monthly income to the date
During the past 11 months, dividend income from my portfolio have produced $490.36, or 4.44% year to the date yield
Monthly income chart for November 2017
A decent month if compared to the other months of the year. Sure, nothing impressive, I can only agree. Speaking about next months - I can already see that following December will be the best month of the year in terms of dividend income, looking on about $150 this December.
January should be similar to November, February and March probably will be the lowest in terms of income. Starting April I hope to reach at least $100/mo (still about 2 months later than I initially planned, see: Investment Goal #1 - $100/mo from Dividend Payments
Goals for November 2018 Dividend income
If looking from today's perspective I cannot see making more than $70 a year later. Still, a year is a plenty of time, and I will stick with a more optimistic $100/mo for November 2018
Christmas Charity Fair Tbilisi 2017
| Living in Georgia | 11 seen
Annual Winter Fair (Christmas charity fair) was held in Tbilisi's Radisson Blue Hotel on December 2, 2017
It has been a tradition for us while living in Georgia to visit this fair, already since 2011. Here are a few articles from the past: Christmas Charity Winter Fair in Tbilisi 2015, Christmas Charity Winter Fair in Tbilisi Sheraton Hotel, Christmas charity fair in Tbilisi
As usual, we took a camera, backpack and went shopping, it' s a great time to buy great things and let's believe it helps charity, as all earnings made during this fair is believed to be donated to charity. It should, after all. Winter fair was organized by International Women's Association Georgia (IWAG)
Unfortunately, lately, I've been missing inspiration for photography and didn't make much photography today.

Our basket of goods after this year's Charity fair in Tbilisi
For years, our favorite stand has been the embassy of the United States of America, but this year Italy won our hearts. Also, It should be noted that from favorite attractions during the fair I should note the bottle bank organized by the Embassy of United Kingdom
How to Send RSS Web Push Notifications to Segments in OneSignal
| Servers | 22 seen
It has been already more than one year since I've enabled OneSignal Web Push notifications for this blog. Over the past year, the blog has acquired more than 25,000 web push subscribers. Frankly speaking - sure web push notifications are great if used the right way, speaking of me - unfortunately, or for good, as I keep writing on many topics, I still haven't found the most optimal use for web push notifications, as readers of this blog fall into many audiences and demographics.
One of the use scenarios to sync web push notifications involves using RSS feed, see: How to send OneSignal RSS Push Notifications Using Zapier
For setting up OneSignal with Drupal see: How To Setup Web Push Notifications For Drupal 8 (Or Any Other Site) Using OneSignal
Today I will write about how to send RSS web push notification using custom-built RSS feed, OneSignal, and Zapier for the country based segment.
As usual, I will provide an example of real situation - about 743 subscribers from more than 25,000 are from Georgia. As Georgia related content is often featured on blog, I decided it would be a good to keep users engaged, by sending a new push notification every time a new Georgia related content is created.
As a Drupaller, I've built already a pretty complicated RSS feed driven Mailchimp e-newsletter. Now, let's see can we apply the same rules for Web Push Notifications.
User segmentation in OneSignal
I wish there were better user segmentation options on onesignal, but for now, segmenting users from a country seems a good starting point.
In fact, this Web Push notification campaign will be similar to the e-mail campaigns automatically sent using RSS and Mailchimp. See: How To Sync Drupal RSS Feed to Mailchimp
As I've already defined a custom RSS feed for Georgia related content I will just simply reuse it: https://www.reinisfischer.com/georgia.xml
To make the magic happen I should make a Zapier app, and here is the details:
From your Zapier account make a new Zap - RSS + OneSignal
As the steps are pretty easy to complete setting up the connection, I will not cover them here, just once in editing OneSignal settings, make sure to include your segment in Segment Names to Send To
Segment Names to Send To
The segment names you want to target. Users in these segments will receive a notification. This targeting parameter is only compatible with excluded_segments. Example: ["Active Users", "Inactive Users"]. Use All to send to all users.
That's it - make sure to save your configuration and enable this ZAP.
How to Prepare for Drupal 7 to 8 Upgrade - Planning
| Drupal Development | 8 seen
It has been more than 4 years since I started this blog. During the years it has evolved a lot, featuring about 1500 articles, extended of using about 60 modules and what's not less important - attracts about 100,000 users monthly. For more than 4 years this website has been running on Drupal 7.
Despite me thinking of Drupal 7as one of the best Drupal versions so far, I understand the importance of upgrading to the latest Drupal 8 version. Drupal 8 features a lot of new and cool features, one of the things I like the most - composer for updating site functionality. Sure, there are many pitfalls also. Personally, I think it will take about 6 months for me to completely upgrade to the latest Drupal 8 version, as still there are many modules not yet supported in D8.
During the last two years I've built a few Drupal 8 sites from scratch and written a dozen of articles (mostly covering Drupal Nginx stuff), so I'm not a complete novice with Drupal 8.
Here are few articles related to configuring Drupal 8 environment
- How to Install & Config Drupal 8 on Ubuntu 14.04 + Ngnix
- Drupal 8 Configuration for Nginx Server Blocks, Ubuntu 14.04
- How to Upgrade PHP 5.3 to 5.5.9 on Ubuntu 12.04 to Support Drupal 8
- Drupal 8 Minor upgrade using Putty SSH Terminal
See a complete list of Drupal 8 articles
Alternatively, see:
- How to upgrade Drupal 6 to Drupal 7 - Preparation
- How to upgrade Drupal 6 to Drupal 7 - Process
Now, returning to the subject of this article:
Planning an upgrade from existing, custom built Drupal 7 website to Drupal 8
Backups. It all should start with backups. For my blog, I'm running a separate VPS from Linode (paying $62.5/mo). I have Linode backups enabled already, and that's great.
Before upgrading to Drupal 8, I plan to purchase additional Linode VPS, set and configure it for Drupal 8 (see above) and migrate a copy of my existing Drupal 7 website there. Having a separate development environment will help. Each new Linode VPS comes with a separate IP.
After the successful D7 to D8 migration, I will change just DNS entries to point to the new IP address or more probably - after successfully migrating and developing blog under D8, I will temporary change DNS to point to the new VPS and then will transfer back to the existing, but already upgraded VPS (just to make sure IP stays the same)
As usual, I will keep publishing updates in the Drupal development series. If you have any comments, suggestions, or you have recently done D7 to D8 upgrade, leave a comment, readers and I would love to hear.
Could Bitcoin Price Reach $30,000 By The End Of 2018?
| Crypto | 31 seen
With Bitcoin price reaching for the first time $10,000 on November 28, 2017 - I keep wondering - could we see Bitcoin double or even triple in value in 2018?
According to Coinmarketcap the price for bitcoin has gone up tenfold since the begging of 2017, trading high $1,003.08 on January 2017 and reaching $10,075.90 on November 28, 2017
Why Bitcoin Price at $7,174.50 ain't no fun, But I'm still buying it?
Bitcoin Year to date chart - January 1st - November 2017 (data source: Coinmarketcap.com)
Now, there is one approach we could try to apply and try to predict the future price of Bitcoin - using the total market capitalization of Bitcoin.
As of writing this article, the total market cap of Bitcoin is $168,861,518,975, while in January it was $15,491,200,000. That's the same tenfold increase
$168,861,518,975 / $15,491,200,000 = ~10.9In order for Bitcoin to reach $30,000 value, the total market cap should increase three times:
$168,861,518,975 * 3 = $ 506,584,556,925That's about a 500 billions of US dollars.
As the total market cap for 1324 cryptocurrencies currently listed on Coinmarketcap is about $ 311 billion at the end of November and Bitcoin dominance is about 54%, personally, I do believe that we could see Bitcoin double or even triple in 2018.
Top Cryptocurrencies I'm Looking to Acquire (Buy&Hold) in 2018
The question is, will it actually happen so? Things could go completely wrong, major exchange hacks, governments outlawing cryptocurrencies and so on.
Remember - investments are risky, never invest more you can afford to lose.
DIY Open Wooden Compost Bin
| DIY | 24 seen
A compost bin is a must-have garden construction at our rural property - fallen leaves and trimmed grass mostly go here. It was on early May 1st, 2017 evening I decided to build an open wooden compost bin from materials we left over from roof works.
It was agreed to install a compost bin on the other side of the house, as when planning a place for a compost bin, it should be chosen carefully, so as not to be an obstacle in the future.
Choosing a place for a compost bin
As there is already an old foundation here, and we are not planning to do with them anything for the next couple of years, it was agreed this is a good place for a compost bin. Now it was a matter of taking down the laths from the loft, an electric saw, some measurement tape, a pencil, and a level.
Wooden boards for compost bin
A little experiment here, adjusting height and weight.
Leveling boards
Definitely much easier than leveling bearing beams for the roof construction.

Day trip to David Gareji monastery complex and Sighnaghi
| Travel guides | 19 seen
At the end of November, my mother visited me again in Georgia. We decided to make a few easy day trips during her stay in Tbilisi.
Our first day trip was to David Gareji Monastery complex and Sighnaghi.
Although I've been to these places for a dozen of times, I never get bored of them.
This time we took a road to David Gareji monastery complex via Rustavi town (which actually is a place I would love to return to take some urban photography), made a short stop at Gardabani to buy a freshly baked Azerbaijani bread, and followed a rocky road to David Gareji monastery complex.
Road to David Gareji
Seems this is some military road, used by Georgian army located somewhere close. During the Soviet times, its said there has been a huge tank polygon somewhere in this area.
Sheep
Oh, I always love scenes like this. Lovely.

One of the rare HDR's I've taken this year.
We continued to the nearby town of Sighnaghi and spent about 10 minutes there taking a walk at Sighnaghi city wall which features beautiful views of Alazani valley.

11 Katkha Tbilisi Restaurant on Nikoloz Baratashvili street

11 Katkha has been my favorite Georgian cuisine Tbilisi restaurant for years, for a long time I loved to visit 11 Katkha restaurant near Dinamo stadium, sadly one-day I learned that Dinamo stadium branch is closed.
From my understanding 11 Katkha is a restaurant chain, as soon I found another branch in Saburtalo. I've been heading to Saburtalo for about a year, just to enjoy the best katmis mcvadi in town.
Now, huge was my surprise discovering 11 Katha restaurant opened in the city center (close to the Freedom square) on Baratishilli street.
Interior at 11 Katkha on Baratishvilli street in Tbilisi
When speaking about 11 Katkha - it's all about katmis mcvadi, kitris pomidori salati, turkuli kava, imeruli hachapuri and sometimes, just sometimes, badrijani.
Georgian cuisine
I love Katkha for one another reason - prices - they keep it low and affordable. Average bill for two persons 40 GEL, for 3 persons 60 GEL (of course it depends)

How to Enable OneSignal Web Push Notifications SendTag For Drupal (User Segmentation by Interests)
| Servers | 24 seen
I spent a good amount of time, trying to learn how to implement a better user segmentation on OneSignal. The best I could get so far was the default OneSiganal's out of the box segmentation based on user country.
As my blog covers many mutually unrelated topics, I was not utilizing the power of push notifications at 100%. In fact, after getting more than 26,000 subscribers (over a year) I felt afraid every-time I sent out a web push notification, as user targeting was very poor.
At OneSignal official documentation, I learned about using Data Tags, especially SendTag and SendTags
Once you've integrated OneSignal in your app or website, implementing tags is very straightforward - simply use the sendTag or sendTags methods to tag your users with a key-value pair at any time. You may also get and delete tags with other methods. To learn more and to check out code examples, dive into the SDK reference for your particular app or website.
Here is the code example, you should call
OneSignal.push(function() { /* These examples are all valid */ OneSignal.sendTag("key", "value"); OneSignal.sendTag("key", "value", function(tagsSent) { // Callback called when tags have finished sending }); OneSignal.sendTag("key", "value").then(function(tagsSent) { // Callback called when tags have finished sending }); });As it was hard to understand what to do next, I thought about following "workaround" using Drupal blocks, before diving in, here are the things you will need:
- OneSignal implemented on your website, see: How To Setup Web Push Notifications For Drupal 8 (Or Any Other Site) Using OneSignal
- Block Visibility by Term for limiting block for certain category/categories. Read an implementation guide: How To Hide Drupal Block For Nodes In Specific Taxonomy - Example With Google Adsense
- PHP input filter enabled (use on your own risk)
Now, create a new block and paste in (using php filter) following code:
<script> OneSignal.push(function() { OneSignal.sendTag("category", "investments"); }); </script>Where category = key and investments = value
Make sure to enable check box to display this block on investments category only. Also, you should put this block somewhere in enabled block regions to make it work. As I'm using custom MailChimp subscribe forms for collecting e-mail at te the end of articles, I put this code inside MailChimp block.
How to add MailChimp Signup Form for Drupal
For tracking multiple categories create new block, with new key and value, for example
<script> OneSignal.push(function() { OneSignal.sendTag("category1", "shopping"); }); </script>And so on.
In case user has already subscribed at investment page, but after is visiting shopping page, both values will be recorded:

Top Cryptocurrencies I'm Looking to Acquire (Buy&Hold) in 2018
| Crypto | 7 seen
As the new year of 2018 is fast approaching, I decided it's the right time to review my current investment strategies and goals. Planning ahead is a great strategy and investments in crypto-investments are no exceptions.
Now if you have been following my blog for a while, you might already know - I started to invest in cryptocurrencies in July 2017, after experienced my first FOMO. Also, it should be noted that crypto investments take just a part of my broader investment portfolio, which, right now, consists of stocks, mutual funds, cash and peer to peer lending.
Remember - investments are risky, never invest more you can afford to lose.
I would call my investments in crypto as experimental. Despite I was looking to keep just 5% of the total portfolio in crypto assets, by now, writing these lines, crypto takes already about 10% of the total portfolio. And it seems it could rise to about 20-25% in 2018. I keep investing on a monthly basis using dollar cost averaging.
Investment Portfolio
By now (November 2017), this experiment has turned into a lovely +36.76% value growth in just 5 months. Awesome. Despite being one of the smallest parts of my portfolio crypto investments have returned the highest returns. Double Awesome.

For acquiring other altcoins I'm using Poloniex.com exchange, which I like because of another reason - lending out bitcoins, see: Invest in Cryptocurrency (Bitcoin, Ethereum and other) Peer to Peer Lending - Poloniex.com
Currently, in 2017, I hold following coins - bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin and ripple.
TOP 10 Crypto Coins I'm looking to acquire in 2018
For 2018 I have decided to buy and hold about 10 cryptocurrencies with the largest market cap, according to Coinmarketcap

Top Dividend Paying Stocks In Nasdaq Baltic I'm Planning to Acquire in 2018
| Investments | 24 seen
I've been investing in Baltic equity market since April 2017, currently (2017) my capital has been exposed to 14 great companies listed on the Nasdaq Baltic stock exchange giving a combined dividend yield on cost 4.04%
For detailed reports see Nasdaq Baltics Review After One Month Investment in Dividend Paying Stocks and Dividend Paying Stocks - Review After 3 Months of Investing in Nasdaq Baltics. Also, make sure to read monthly dividend income reports as well.
For tracking stock portfolio I've built a simple Google Spreadsheet, you can learn more and download in this article: Simple Google Spreadsheet to Track Stock Portfolio Changes Using GOOGLEFINANCE
As I have been a strong monthly dividend growth investor, I keep investing in stocks throughout the year in several batches. When Investing in Nasdaq Baltic, the great help to learn more about upcoming dividends is Dividend Calendar.
Some readers have asked me - do I just invest based on dates or I do my homework and research companies before investing. Of course, I do my homework and do at least fundamental analysis for each stock I'm adding to the portfolio.
But as I'm just starting out, sometimes I overpay for the stocks, like Silvano Fashion Group (SFG1T) or OlainFarm (OLF1R). On the other hand, I'm here for a long-term (at least 10 years) and as long I don't feel I'm making a fatal error, I feel OK after seeing a negative return in the portfolio.
Now, when planning investments for 2018 in Nasdaq Baltics, I did another simple research, based on historical data and my own experience to list stocks I'm looking to acquire next year.
Stocks In Nasdaq Baltic I'm Planning to Acquire in 2018
Please remember: your capital is at risk when investing in stocks and you could actually lose some, if not all money, as stock prices might drop. invest only money you are comfortable to lose.

As investments in the Baltic stock, equity is just a part from my broader 1 million dollars saving account by the time I will turn 60 (2045) I'm planning to invest in the Baltics about EUR 5,000 in 2018 in several batches.
It seems that January - March will be a quiet period on the stock exchange with little to no dividend paying stocks (I expect to see Vilniaus Baldai dividend payment in January) I will use this time to acquire new stocks and increase holdings in existing stocks.
Right now the top priority is to acquire new stocks. New stocks mean more diversified portfolio. Also to increase total dividend payouts in 2018 the next priority is to increase and acquire more stocks in companies that paid great dividends in 2017

Minimum Wages in Central Asian Countries 2017
| Macroeconomics | 5 seen
When speaking about Central Asian countries, I'm referring to the five former Soviet Union member states - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The total population of these countries is about 70 million.
Recommended reading: Population changes in the former Soviet Union, also see: Minimum wages in Central Asia 2013
As it has been already 4 years since my latest article about minimum wages in Central Asian countries, I decided to take a fresh look and compare. 4 years is a decent amount of time.
Minimum wages in Central Asian Countries 2017
Country National currency 2017 2013 Growth Turkmenistan 650 TMM $185.00 $154.00 20.13% Kazakhstan 24459 KZT $73.56 $121.00 -39.21% Kyrgyzstan 5052 KGS $72.43 $17.00 326.06% Tajikistan 400 TJS $45.44 $52.00 -12.62% Uzbekistan 149,775 UZS $18.56 $40.00 -53.60%Currency exchange rates as of November 14, 2017
Wow - is the first word I would like to express. There are some nations (Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan) with a negative minimum wage growth if converted to the USD.
Unfortunately, I haven't kept data for minimum wages in national currencies for 2013, but there is a simple explanation how I can explain this negative growth: local currency devaluation against USD. As I have been living in another former Soviet Union member state Georgia for more than 6 years already, I've experienced local lari (Georgian national currency) devaluation against USD for a couple of times during the past years, with latest happening right now. See: GEL Loses Another 16.5% Against USD; -17% Against EUR.
Seems the same problems I've experienced in Georgia are happening in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
Speaking about 326% growth for a minimum wage in Kyrgyzstan during the last 4 years, this number seems high to me, maybe I didn't enter the correct data for 2013. Back in 2013 it was hard to find any data about these countries, I assume I could make a mistake back then
Turkmenistan - the only country (except Kyrgyzstan) showing a decent +20% increase in a minimum wage. Also, Turkmenistan is the only having a minimum wage set double and even triple than rest of the countries. It should be noted that Turkmenistan has worlds 4th largest natural gas reserves and Turkmenistan is among the few countries where economic growth have continued to grow during the crisis of 2009 and seems Turkmenistan is performing rather good these days as well. See: Turkmenistan GDP 1990 - 2014

Simple FB connect Drupal 8 Mapping custom fields from Facebook
| Drupal Development | 24 seen
Simple FB Connect Drupal module allows users to register and login to your Drupal site with their Facebook account.
Indeed, as the modules name suggests, its one of the easiest ways how to connect Facebook to Drupal. And as I had already worked with this module a few years ago (see: Drupal Simple FB connect + User Form Theming ) now, when working on idea about possible Drupal Dating portal, I decided to implement Simple FB Connect. In this article I'll write down my notes on how to map custom Facebook fields to Drupal 8 using this module.
I should note that I was working on Drupal 8.4.2 minimal profile installed.
Before proceeding to the technical part, make sure you have created:
- Facebook app for your Drupal login - For creating a Facebook app, please follow this tutorial: Installation instructions
- You have installed and configured Simple FB connect module
For the sake of ease for this tutorial I will cover details on how to map fields from Facebook's person's public profile only (for enabling additional fields you will need to make Facebook review for your app)
The following properties on the user object are enabled by default: (See: Permissions Reference - Facebook Login)
- id
- cover
- name
- first_name
- last_name
- age_range
- link
- gender
- locale
- picture
- timezone
- updated_time
- verified
Now, once we are all set up, let's do two things:
- Create fields for Drupal user profiles
- Creating a custom module for mapping Facebook fields to Drupal fields using Simple FB connect.
Adding custom fields for Drupal user profiles
For this example I created following fields:
- First name field_first_name Text (plain)
- Last name field_last_name Text (plain)
- Gender field_gender Text (plain)
- Age Range field_age_range Text (plain)
- Locale field_locale Text (plain)
Your setup might differ, but hopefully you got the picture.
Custom module for mapping FB fields
A great reading and tutorial is already provided on modules page, see: EventSubscriber example. Here I will just reproduce what's already written and some minor changes for mapping fields from Facebook.
mymodule/mymodule.info.yml
name: My Module description: 'Example module demonstrating interaction with Simple FB Connect.' package: Custom type: module core: 8.x dependencies: - simple_fb_connectmymodule/mymodule.services.yml
services: mymodule.subscriber: class: Drupal\mymodule\EventSubscriber\MyModuleSubscriber arguments: - @simple_fb_connect.fb_factory tags: - {name: event_subscriber}Pay attention when copy-pasting the content of the services file. The intendation must be exactly like it is here (indent does NOT use tabulators but two space bars). If you get a white screen of death (PHP fatal error), please fix the indents, clear Drupal caches and try again.
mymodule/src/EventSubscriber/MyModuleSubscriber.php
A slightingly modified file already, please see EventSubscriber example for original. Inspired by themes mania
facebook = $fb_factory->getFbService(); $this->persistentDataHandler = $fb_factory->getPersistentDataHandler(); } /** * Returns an array of event names this subscriber wants to listen to. * * @return array * The event names to listen to */ static function getSubscribedEvents() { $events = array(); $events['simple_fb_connect.scope'][] = array('modifyPermissionScope'); $events['simple_fb_connect.user_created'][] = array('userCreated'); $events['simple_fb_connect.user_login'][] = array('userLogin'); return $events; } /** * Adds Facebook permissions to the scope array. * * Facebook permissions can be found at * https://developers.facebook.com/docs/facebook-login/permissions * * Note that most permissions require that Facebook will review your app * so only add those permissions that you really need. In this example we * add 'public_profile' which you don't have to do since this permission * is always granted. */ public function modifyPermissionScope(GenericEvent $event) { $scope = $event->getArgument('scope'); // Add the permission here. In this example we add 'public_profile'. $scope[] = 'public_profile'; $event->setArgument('scope', $scope); } /** * Reacts to the event when new user is created via Simple FB Connect. * */ public function userCreated(GenericEvent $event) { $user = $event->getArgument('account'); // Enter your own code here. Remember to save the user with $user->save() // if you modify the user object. drupal_set_message("Debug: user created. This message is from mymodule!"); } /** * Reacts to the event when user logs in via Simple FB Connect. * * This example adds role 'facebook' to the user if the user * didn't have that role already. You have to create the role manually. * * This function also demonstrates how you can get the access token for the * current user and how to make your own API calls using Facebook service. */ public function userLogin(GenericEvent $event) { $user = $event->getArgument('account'); // Enter your code here. Remember to save the user with $user->save() // if you modify the user object. drupal_set_message("Debug: user logged in. This message is from mymodule!"); // Let's add a role 'facebook' for the user if she didn't have it already. // The role itself must obviously be first created manually. $user->addRole('facebook'); $user->save(); // Let's see how we can get make our own API calls to Facebook. We need // user's Facebook access token, which SimpleFbConnect has stored to session // for other modules. $access_token = $this->persistentDataHandler->get('access_token'); if ($access_token) { try { $graph_node = $this->facebook->get('/me?fields=name,first_name,last_name,gender,age_range,locale', $access_token)->getGraphNode(); $name = $graph_node->getField('name'); $first_name = $graph_node->getField('first_name'); $last_name = $graph_node->getField('last_name'); $gender = $graph_node->getField('gender'); $age_range = $graph_node->getField('age_range'); $locale = $graph_node->getField('locale'); drupal_set_message("We were able to retreive following data from Facebook: " . $name . $first_name . $last_name . $gender . $age_range . $locale ); $user->set("field_first_name", $first_name); $user->set("field_last_name", $last_name); $user->set("field_gender", $gender); $user->set("field_age_range", $age_range); $user->set("field_locale", $locale); $user->save(); } catch (FacebookRequestException $ex) { // Add exception handling here for FacebookRequestExceptions. } catch (FacebookSDKException $ex) { // Add exception handling here for all other exceptions. } } else { drupal_set_message("No FB access token found for current user!"); } } }Now once configured and enabled, after login with Facebook connect, here is the result and data I was able to store in Drupal:
